I was recently asked to preach to Haven Baptist Fellowship in Douglas, Arizona. We loaded up all the kids, headed down, and had a wonderful time with the folks down there. What a great group of believers! I hope to visit with them again very soon.
The Lord laid on my heart the last two verses of I Corinthians 6, so this is what I preached.
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
I posted this on my blog at:

But I thought it was worth repeating here:
We just had great success with our garage sale the past two weekends. I always say, "I hate having garage sales," and I still do, but it is amazing how much easier it is when you do well, praise the Lord!
It amazes me how helpful the kids were the past two weekends. Sometimes as you go through life day by day, it is difficult to step back and realize how special each of your children are. As parents, we too often take for granted the time God has given us with our kids.
There is a swelling tide of Bible critics who are creating doubt amongst young believers and nonbelievers alike. They call into question the trustworthiness of the Bible, saying that it's writers interjected their own opinions into the scriptures, and added to and embellished true life accounts. Critics (ie Bart D. Ehrman) go so far as to claim that the Bible was not penned by it's said writers, but those posing as apostles or prophets.
Jason Burton Family
I just wanted to announce that about a month ago, we started http://www.jasonburtonfamily.net. Stop in and let me know what you think!
God bless,

I was reading through the book, "The Life of David Brainerd," a journal kept by the man and edited by Jonathan Edwards. It reads as follows.
"At times I grew remiss and sluggish, without any great convictions of sin, for a considerable time together; but after such a season convictions sometimes seized me more violently. One night I remember in particular, when I was walking solitarily abroad, I had opened to me such a view of my sin that I feared the ground would cleave asunder under my feet, and become my grave; and send my soul quick into hell, before I could get home."
I wanted to type in an excerpt from a book I'm currently reading, "Revival Praying, by Leonard Ravenhill.
"If we today could rediscover the virtue in that Name, the victory in that Name, the violence in that Name, we could set this world alight for God. Most of us have enough grace to scrape through the day, but we have nothing over. We are conquerors but are not "more than conquerors." We can fight off the enemy but cannot take any prisoners. Ours is a defense action, not an attacking power."
The last few months have been quite a roller coaster. My Father was a police officer in Phoenix Az and was killed on his way home one morning three days after my first birthday. Needless to say, I never knew him. Growing up without a father is a trying experience. There are many things a young boy must figure out on his own. And many things no little boy should have to deal with by him self. Nonetheless, I managed and with the help of my mother, I have grown up. My Mom takes the credit for my turning out pretty good, but I know better.
There is an underlying attack on the family within Christianity, and it would seem this should be the last place to expect it. A great preacher once said” if your going to defeat the Devil, hit him with a cradle instead of a crutch”. Apparently the church today would rather hit him with the crutch, because the cradle seems to have become a threat.
What do you mean by such a statement, you may ask? Well I’ll tell you, and if you love God and his word it ought to make you madder then a hornet.
AS THE YEAR CONTINUES, WE CONTINUE TO SEE GOD WORK IN A GREAT WAY. THIS MAY SOUND REPETITIVE, BUT THIS IS EXACTLY HOW IT SHOULD BE. THE CHRISTIAN WALK SHOULD BE A LIFE OF CONTIUOUS GROWTH. WE SHOULD BE DISCOVERING NEW MERCIES AND MYSTERIES IN THE BLESSED OLD BIBLE AND WHEN OUR GROWING STOPS WE ARE EITHER DEAD SPIRITUALLY OR DEAD PHYSICALLY.OF COURSE, DEATH FOR THE BELIEVER IS MERELY A GRADUATION TO GLORY, AND THERE WE CAN DISCOVER THE MYSTERIES OF OUR GOD.
